Meet the Archivist
The town Archivist is Barbara Gill. She is a Sandwich native, and a 1950 graduate of Henry T. Wing School. She received her MS from Simmons College in Boston, and worked at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution afterward. Interest in town and family history prompted her to serve on the Sandwich Historical Commission and work at the Sandwich Town Archives and Historical Center in the 1980's. In June of 1987, she became the Town Archivist.
She is married to Clyde S. Gill, who retired as a Lieutenant of the Sandwich Police department. She has two children, 4 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren, all who live in Sandwich. Barbara is descended from a dozen Cape Cod families, and is a member of Massachusetts Society of Mayflower Descendents, the Cape Cod genealogical Society, and the New England Historic Genealogical Society.
