Strega Nona Puppet Show and Pasta Luncheon 

Saturday, October 20th ~ 11:00 - 12:30

Join us for our annual Strega Nona Puppet Show and Pasta Luncheon. This magical tale, by Tomie dePaola,stars a good Grandma witch and her helper Big Anthony. Big Anthony causes Strega Nona's magic pasta pot to create so much pasta that it nearly flooded and buried a town. Many thanks to Marshlands Restaurants and Bakeries and the Friends of the Sandwich Public Library for sponsoring this event.

It's a New Season of Scrabble with Friends on Tuesday evenings ~ October 23  ~ 6-8 pmscrabble

Come on down and use your Js, Qs and Zs and join others for some friendly competition. And here's some good news...The sixth edition of Merriam-Webster's "Official Scrabble Players Dictionary" includes 300 words such as twerk, beatdown and sriracha. And it finally adds a common two-letter word that players have been waiting to use for decades: OK.



This October, 4-H and Google will launch an exciting National Youth Science Day challenge, Code Your World, inviting kids to get involved in computer science (through hands-on doing). We'll be offering 4 sessions for ages 8-14. No coding experience is necessary.
Session 1 - Tuesday, October 30, 4 to 6 pm introduces 'How a Computer Thinks'  
Part 1 - Teaches algorithm and coding and kids will write code for the 'Chicken Dance' 
Part 2 - Kids use Code Cards to design their own dance and teach it to others.

Color Your World         November 13th
Animate a Name          November 27th

Adult Book Discussion - How the Light Gets In by Louise Penny

This monthly adult book discussion group meets on the third Wednesday of the month. New members always welcome. If you are new to the group sign-up  below so we know you'll be joining us. Light refreshments are provided by the Friends of the Library.
Inquire at the Reference or Adult Circulation desk if you would like help obtaining a copy of the book.

 Friends of the Library Book Sale every Saturday

Drop by between 10 am and noon every Saturday and browse the great collection of  books for all ages at great prices and help support the Friends. And don't forget the ongoing book sale near the entrance.
